Cadet Leader Training Camp 2016 - Night Walk

The Sec 3 Cadet Leaders (CLs) participated in this year Cadet Leader Training Camp and took on the role of camp coordinator / instructors.

It was indeed a memorable experience for the sec 3s as they impart knowledge to the sec 2s and prepared them to take over the unit next year. Lets look forth to the sec 2s to step up in 2017!!

Inter-Squad Challenge 2016

The last unit training of the year on the 25th of October, the training started with a muster parade to award cadets with their new ranks and badges. It was then followed by an inter-squad challenge held where the different squads challenged each other through fun and games. There were many fun-filled activities such as oreo face, balloon stomp, photo zone, floorball and more.
Here are some pictures captured throughout the games.

At the end of the day, all the squads were happy to win prizes. It sure was an interesting session to end the year well.

PDS Camp 2016

During the September holidays, the PDS members had fun spending their time in a day camp held at school. The Sec 1s and 2s learnt new things and also there were many interesting activities.

"The camp went through lots of major changes and I had to be very flexible in executing the plan on the actual day. I feel that the camp was successful in carrying out its goal by instilling passion for PDS in the juniors by engaging them in several different activities. I have grown to be more accustomed to PDS and will work my way to improving to great heights in the near future because of this experience."

"Firstly, I feel that this PDS day camp is a very beneficial one to me as well as the CLs, Sec 1s and Sec 2s. This is actually my first time being the IC, the one who is in charge of the camp. As I have missed the unit fun camp when the CLs were given the opportunity to be in charge so I did not have any experience of being the IC or even planning the activity. After the camp, I realised that planning the camp, ensuring that the camp is run smoothly, is really not easy. It requires us to be flexible and be fast at the same. It is really tiring to run the camp and I learnt a lot from this experience. For this PDS day camp, due to the rain before the camp, the timings were all pushed back and we had to reschedule our plan and see what we should do next. When we were teaching the basic rifle drill to the Sec 1s and 2s, it was really hard as it was new to them and no matter how many times we teach them, they would still repeat the mistakes. From this teaching experience, I learn to be patient.

I feel that this camp is also very useful and valuable one as we get to know our juniors better. We were also able to focus more on PDS only as on usual trainings, it is hard to get a training for PDS only therefore I feel that it is a very useful session. From this day camp, we can also identify who are the better learners as well as who are the ones who need more help and from there we would be able to help them. As the Sec 1 adjutant, I also got to know more about my sec 1s and had fun with them too. During this camp, I am also really happy to see the sec 1s and 2s interacting with each other as they learn and have fun.

Towards the end of the day, although I feel really tired but as I see the happy faces of the Sec 1s and 2s at the pizza dinner, I could tell that this PDS day camp was a successful one. As I look at the injuries and the tired faces of the CLs, I know that to all of us it is really worth it."

PYA-VIA Project 2016

On the 26th of August 2016, the Sec 3s carried out the PYA Project where we reach out to the community in the neighbourhood and engage with them to spread awareness regarding the different community crimes. We also shared with them more about what SGSecure is.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we only managed to engage residents in HDB blocks and not other venues, if not, many more could have benefitted. Nonetheless, the project was still executed successfully!
